Peripheral Vascular Angioplasty and Stenting

Peripheral Artery Disease results from build up of fat and cholesterol in the walls of the arteries supplying blood to the lower leg, upper arm and other parts of the body. It results in blockages similar to stenosis in heart arteries and can cause leg pain – called claudication, ulcers in the leg and even gangrene resulting in loss of your extremity. You can be evaluated in our office for this disease by simple doppler ultrasound study done in our office. It is a non-invasive test and takes less than hour to do. Patients who have this disease can similarly be treated with balloon angioplasty and stenting. Dr Shahab has performed hundreds of these procedures with successful results. The techniques are similar to the stenting of the heart and carotid arteries andthe procedure is essentially the same with some minor differences.Enter text here

"I was experiencing unusually low energy so my Internist gave me a referral to Dr Shahab. Dr Shahab tested me and found coronary artery disease and we scheduled an angioplasty with stent. The improvement was immediate. Two additional procedures added three more stents. I have no physical restrictions and lead an active life at age 77."
